Reason why We cannot Pay Super Falcons - Sports Minister

» Date: December 08, 2016
The way the Nigerian Female team otherwise known as the super Falcons are being treated has been the cause of uproar personally I am really fed up about this. The comment which the Nigerian Minister for sports and Youth Development, Mr Solomon Dalong made concerning the Payment of the allowances for the hardworking Nigerian Super Falcons has been both insulting and appalling.

Why we cannot pay the Super Falcons Allowances ... Nigerian Minister of Sports and Youth Development Reveals

In Abuja, the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr Solomon Dalong told newsmen on Thursday that the federal government is not been able to pay the allowances of the Super Falcons because they did not expect the super falcons to win the Cameroon team.

The Super Falcons on Saturday won the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations beating Cameroon 1:0 but up till date, have not been paid their allowances. This is both barbaric and hilarious at the same time. Mr Solomon Dalong after a private meeting with The Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and the state correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, revealed that there was no money readily available to be paid to the girls but added that efforts were being made to find a solution to the matter. Dalong adds that “It is unfortunate that we are celebrating the victory of the Super Falcons amidst some bitter feelings among the players because of some administrative lapses that were not managed properly because if the situation was explained to these girls, I don’t think the situation would have gotten to this level. “They have stamped their authority and dominance over football in the continent, having consistently won the trophy eight times. “After the girls came back from Cameroon, we had launched with them and they were in high spirits, the communication gap in trying to convey the situation to them could have been what led to it.

What I think "I believe this is a high level of incompetence on the part of the Minister of Sports and Youth Development and unwillingness to support the nation in Youth Development. If the recognised Nigerian team is not being sponsored to the highest level, even with all the achievement they have accomplished in the long run of the Women Competition, bagging their 8 eight championship title, I want to ask, is it the street footballers that are very skillful and can do better than most white players that would be sponsored??

" Why is it that everything in Nigeria has been politicised?? Every trophy has a prize attached to it, The other 7 championships the super falcons won in the past added with the allocation in the budget for sport and youth empowerment and donations from well-meaning sports lover and all the rest, what are they used for? The Nigerian Minister for sports should not have any reason for not paying these girls. I believed at this point, their payment should have doubled because of their outstanding performances.

Recently, the Nigerian male Football Team, The super Eagles were being embarrassed by the hotel management where they lodged because the NFF were not able to pay their hotel bills. This is humiliating even to an individual. It was fortunate that Former Chelsea Player John Mikel Obi was with the team and had to pay off the hotel bills to enable the players to go out for the tournament. The Sports Minister should not be giving excuses because even if nothing is working in Nigeria, Our sports in top notch and I don't see why these players should be treated like this. #payourgirls that are the only way. stay tuned for more!!!
