The 13 Russian athletes and two coaches are among the 28 Russian athletes given lifetime bans but was overturned by the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration For Sports Thursday. The court ruled that it was unfair that these athletes were given life bans over this issue and resolved that they missed the 2014 Sochi Winter Games but allows them to be included in the 2018 games.

Following the overturn by the court, The Russian Athletes then made an entry request to be enlisted back into the Olympic competition scheduled to start on Friday in South Korea.

Meanwhile, the IOC has issued a statement stating that its interview panel has examined the applications made by these athletes but had lingering suspicions about Potential anti-doping violations.
In this statement, the IOC also revealed that extra information about these athletes was sent to its panel by the World Anti-Doping Agency  (WADA) but the results have raised suspicions about the integrity of these athletes.

The Statement stated thus
"The additional information included data from the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) database, traces of prohibited substances, evidence of steroid profile manipulation and further confidential information provided to the Panel by WADA"
