A Bureau de change operator has been sentenced to jail for 3-years following an attempt to defraud one Salisu Tambaya off 13million naira.

The Bureau the Change merchant who was identified as Sale Mohammed Elleman was charged to the Katsina State High Court , which was presided by Justice Abdullahi Yusuf on Thursday, 8th March, 2018.The suspect was said to have induced Salisu into paying 13 million naira which he claimed would be invested in a BDC business.
BDC is the abbreviated form for Business Development Company , which is an organization that invests in and helps small- and medium-size companies grow in the initial stages of their development.
Mr Salisu was said to have sent a petition to the Efcc , stating all that transpired between them.
The Efcc sprung into action and apprehended Mohammed.
When the suspect was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him. The charges ranges from breach of trust, cheating, misappropriation and diversion of funds.
The High court required evidences to prove that he actually invested the money in the Bdc business, but the suspect could not give any trace about the money.
After further investigations and prosecution, the presiding judge, Justice Abdullahi Yusuf was convinced the suspect was actually given the money based on hard evidence of the transaction, the alleged business he invested in had no commence day, no record whatsoever and the judge had no other option than to sentence him for 3 years in prison.
